Where do your donations go?

Your donations will help our organization provide services, training and support to serve the statewide local children’s advocacy centers. Here’s what your generous donations achieve within our organization:

Make a Difference: Donate Today!

Everyone in our community has a role to play in protecting children and preventing child abuse. There are many opportunities for you to make a difference by supporting the Children's Advocacy Centers of Mississippi, through monetary donations or volunteering your time. Make a difference: donate today!

GENERAL CONTRIBUTIONS:

Consider making a monetary donation to the Children's Advocacy Centers of Mississippi or to a Child Advocacy Center that serves your community. Or, consider making a donation of needed supplies (general office supplies, blank DVDs, copy paper, etc.).

MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS:

Remember a special family member, friend or colleague while supporting children who have been abused or who are at risk of being abused. Your donation to the Children's Advocacy Centers of Mississippi will be gratefully acknowledged (without mention of the donation amount).

HONORARY CONTRIBUTIONS:

Honor someone special in your life with a donation to the Children's Advocacy Centers of Mississippi. Donations in honor of someone make a truly meaningful and special gift.

Outside of monetary gifts, here are other ways to get involved:

  • Organize a Dress Down Day at your company. Employees who make a donation to the Children's Advocacy Centers of Mississippi (for example, $5.00 per person) can wear jeans or other casual attire. Have a friendly competition among different departments or other similar organizations.
  • Are you an independent consultant for a cosmetic, jewelry, gift or clothing company? Host a party to benefit the Children's Advocacy Centers of Mississippi, raise awareness and donate a percentage of proceeds or sales to the Children's Advocacy Centers of Mississippi.
  • Sponsor a fundraiser. For example, host a Girl's Night Out shopping event at your store, boutique or business to benefit the Children's Advocacy Centers of Mississippi. We'll provide brochures and a representative to speak, if requested.
  • Is your community organization or club looking for a speaker? We'd be happy to talk to your group about CACM and how we can work together to reduce the devastating effects of child abuse. Our presentations can be customized for your group.

If you are interested in volunteering with CACM, simply contact Karla Tye, Executive Director, at 601.940.6183 to discuss possible group volunteer projects. We will arrange for an interview to discuss your application, volunteer interest(s) and give an orientation of CACM. We will also discuss training that will be required of your volunteer work. Due to the confidentiality and gravity of child abuse cases, we require most volunteers to be at least 18 years of age and that prospective volunteers be carefully screened through the application process. The work is very rewarding and we look forward to meeting and working with those who want to give back to the community through our organization.

We need volunteers to help in many ways:

Administrative Team

Administrative Team volunteers are responsible for general office duties. Orientation and training are required. Administrative Team members must be available during the week, usually between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Special Projects

The Special Projects volunteers are responsible for short- or long-term projects that support the overall mission of CACM, such as compiling statistical data on a quarterly basis, compiling outcome measures data or coordinating volunteer activities. Orientation and training are required. Many project activities can be completed on a flexible schedule during the week or weekends.

Ambassadors

Ambassadors represent CACM at health fairs and various related events by distributing materials and answering questions about our services. Ambassadors can also deliver presentations to various civic groups on behalf of the Center in order to educate about child abuse and inform the community about the Center. Orientation and training are required. Opportunities for Ambassadors can be either during the week or weekends.

Community Partners

Community Partners assist CACM by supporting our efforts with special events in Mississippi. Community Partners help plan and organize community events to raise awareness and promote prevention of child abuse including preparation for local awareness campaigns during April’s Child Abuse Prevention Month. Other prevention projects could include writing newspaper articles or preparing and distributing prevention materials. Events and projects may include wish list drive, fairs and fundraising opportunities. Orientation and training are required. Participation as a Community Partner is on an as-needed basis.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club volunteers are responsible for providing breakfast, lunch or refreshments for scheduled meetings, trainings or special events with local agencies that work with CACM. Breakfast Club volunteers help by preparing and delivering meals and snacks for regular monthly meetings or on an as-needed basis. Orientation is required. Breakfast Club volunteers must be available during the week.

Fundraising Friends

CACM holds several fundraising activities throughout the year, including Cookies with Santa in December. Fundraising Friends volunteer their time by working on committees such as: live and silent auctions, decorating, entertainment, publicity or sponsorships. If your time is limited, yet you want to help CACM raise much needed funds, please consider becoming a Friend.

Group/Corporate Opportunities

We would love the opportunity to find the right project for your school, corporate or church group. Contact CACM for details.

Other Opportunities

If there is something you enjoy doing, such as photography, scrapbooking, painting, carpentry, decorating for seasons, etc., please consider donating your talents to CACM. We appreciate the time and unique skills of all our volunteers, and we understand that not every person who is interested in volunteering for our agency has the time or ability to commit to regularly scheduled shifts during the week or weekend.
